Malta, Gozo and Comino
Malta and the sister islands of Gozo and Comino are only about 3 to 4 hours from the UK. With direct flights available from many UK airports to Malta and then a Ferry ride to either Gozo or Comino.
Malta drives on the same side of the road as in the United Kingdom, and most buses are accessible for wheelchair users.
Did you know that the sunny, southern Mediterranean island of Malta was once a part of the British Empire?
Although it's still a part of the British Commonwealth, it's now its own republic and proudly stands on its own two feet.
As well as this, it's also a fully-fledged member of the European Union

Geography
Malta’s geographic location brings a remarkably favourable climate. Its blissfully long, hot Summers, warm Spring and Autumn temperatures, and delightfully mild Winters allow you to enjoy the great outdoors whatever the season. This makes it the ideal holiday destination for anyone keen on walking, al fresco dining, or any other leisurely pursuits. And with its relaxed Mediterranean lifestyle, enabling you to slow down and unwind, you’ll be able to relax, explore, and make the most of every second of your holiday!

Time Zone
Spectacularly situated in the heart of the Mediterranean, Malta uses Central European Standard Time (CET), which is 1 hour ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT 1). Like all European states, Malta reverts to Summer (Daylight-Saving) time, and local time is shifted forward by 1 hour. As a result, during Summer time, Malta is 2 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT 2). At the end of the Summer months, time in Malta is shifted back by 1 hour to Central European Time (CET) or (GMT 1).

This means jet lag is not an issue for travellers coming from Europe, and flights are always relatively short. With easy connections from many major European city airports, it is an easy-to-reach destination for transcontinental travellers as well.
